(The “savage prisoner” is who is later named Friday by Robinson Crusoe)


  1. Crusoe reflects on many things in his life
    1. His “original sin” to his father
    2. How he would escape from the island to the mainland
    3. How lucky he was that he never fell into the hands of the cannibals
    4. What would happen if he did fall into the cannibals' hands
  2. Crusoe has a dream
    1. Saw two canoes and eleven savages on the shore
    2. The savage they were going to eat ran away
    3. Hid right in front of Crusoe's fortification
    4. Crusoe shows himself to the savage who becomes his slave
    5. Crusoe thinks now he can get to the mainland because he has someone to be a pilot
  3. After dream Crusoe decides he can only escape this island if he gets a savage
  4. Watched for them for a long time
  5. Savages come to island
    1. After one and a half years five canoes and no less than thirty savages came to island
    2. The second savage they planned to eat ran with three of the savages following him
    3. The prisoner savage was faster than the three following him
    4. The prisoner savage crossed a creek
    5. One savage following the prisoner savage couldn't swim and didn't follow any more
    6. So two savages following the savage prisoner
    7. Crusoe comes and knocks one of the savages with his club and shoots the other with his gun
    8. Savage prisoner becomes Crusoe's slave
    9. The savage prisoner takes Crusoe's sword
    10. He slices off the head of the savage who Crusoe had knocked down with his club
    11. Savage prisoner buries the two dead savages who were following him
    12. Crusoe gives the savage prisoner food and he falls asleep
